living room re-do

i hate to admit this...but, i decorated my living room 1 year ago..and never loved it. every time i walked down the stairs and looked into my living room i hated it. i needed a change. so, this time i really thought this through and didn't shop on a whim (i tend to do that). i looked on-line for ideas and found some fabric i liked. i kinda based everything off of the fabric. here are the before and afters.
                                                                             



i would like to start off by saying....I WISH I HAD A BETTER FLASH!

i just never reallly liked it!



i hated this chair right from the get go!
why did i buy it??!!
i asked myself that EVERY day!
also,...don't you love my husbands grandmothers dining table..NOT!
should i paint it or get a new one??

AFTER:

ahhhh.... much better now.

i got old books from my parents house and some of our own.
i would LOVE to have a huge white built in bookcase!
this will do for now.

i fell in love with this chair instantly!

my mother in law was kind enough to make my pillows...i love her!
(sorry it's dark)

i still want a area rug.
i might change my curtains.
i might paint.
i would like to change out the light fixtures.
i need to cover a pillow for my red chair...i'm thinking zebra.

Wicked!

we took our oldest to see Wicked on saturday. first we ate at the old spaghetti factory and then after dinner we made our way to the theater. i saw Wicked in San Francisco a couple years ago with bee. so, when i saw that Wicked was coming to Fresno, i grabbed the tickets! i just knew that my husband and our oldest chicken would love it, and i was right!

i joined netflix recently and i found a movie from my past.  it's not from that long ago but i can remember loving it at the time.  i'm going to watch it tonight and i really hope it's as good this time as it was back then.  i'll let you know.

mystic maid

ohh...is it magical! a while back my good friend shared her love for the mystic maid rag. it sounded so fantastic i had to have one!! i was really curious to see if it performed as well as my friend had described. it's...a.m.a.z.i.n.g!!! first off..i don't need windex!! i only wet the rag, and i can dust AND clean windows! i use it for my entire house, and i rinse it out when i feel it has collected a lot of dust. i also love it for my car. after i get it washed, i wipe down everything (hand prints) inside my car. EVERYTHING!

i have a really hard time finding art that i like. so, i thought for my bedroom in stead of buying expensive art. i would buy cheap amazing paper! i found this website www.papermojo.com . i picked out a really neat marbled paper that i just love and can't wait to frame. i think im going to use 3 frames and hang them over my bed. i thought the paper was decently prices at about $5.00, for a HUGE piece (i might not use one of them..any takers?)  im going to accent the coralie/orangie color in the paper with pillows. now, i just need to find the perfect frames!

my daughter works for estee lauder.  the sweet thing sent me a make-up bag with some goodies in it.  included was this amazing cream: 'time zone'.  ok, it's a little pricey but the smell is wonderful, amazing, fabulous, need i say more?  i feel absolutely feminine when i put it on.  honestly, my face feels so soft and i believe it really works!  come on ladies, we're all entitled to a litle pampering!  thanks L.

Barbie birthday cake

first off. today was my little chicks birthday. i can't believe she is 4! i remember when we found out we were having a little girl. i cried..and didn't believe it. i just KNEW she was a boy. i was wrong..april 11th 2007 our little miss malone was born into the world. she has sure changed all of our lives. we all just love her to pieces! with that said, this was the year i was going to throw our little chick her first girlfriends party! she has been obsessed with the Barbie channel (it's on AT&T)..and wanted a Barbie party. i scoured the internet for ideas. i found some cute party ideas but, i couldn't find any DIY for a Barbie cake! i know... you crafty people out there can whip a cake out nothing flat. i, on the other hand need some guidance. all i could find were pictures of barbie cakes. i soon figured i was on my own. with a little help from friends and Micheal's, i think i made a pretty cute cake! the best part was my chick thought it was FABULOUS!




2 cake pans, one glass bowl, and a NEW barbie.



i did 2 boxes of yellow cake mix.



let cool. cut tops off.



i had to let this cook a long time. when it was cooled i cut the top off.



i colored 2 cans of frosting. 1 with pink and 1 with purple. i used the purple to
use in between the cakes. i wanted to save the pink for her dress.



i put frosting on the top cake and then added the bowl shaped cake.
i dusted off the crumbs with a paper towel (i heard your supposed to do that...somewhere)
i inserted barbie at a little bit of an angle and started to frost!

she was so excited to help decorate!



i bought flowers from Micheal's, 2 tips, and a plastic bag.
i only ended up using 1 tip.

creamy lemon squares

anything with sweetend condensed milk and lemon:  delicious!

Ingredients

• 1-⅓ cup All-purpose Flour
• ½ teaspoons Salt
• 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
• 1 stick (1/2 Cup) Butter, Slightly Softened
• 1 cup Brown Sugar (lightly Packed)
• 1 cup Oats
• 1 can (14 Ounce) Sweetened Condensed Milk
• ½ cups Lemon Juice
• Zest Of 1 Lemon

Preparation Instructions

PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES.
Mix butter and brown sugar until well combined.
Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder.
Add oats and flour to butter/sugar mixture and mix to combine.
Press half of crumb mixture into the bottom of an 8 x 11 inch pan.
Mix together condensed milk, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Spread onto the bottom layer of the crumb mixture. Top with the other half of the crumb mixture, but don’t press.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Allow pan to sit on counter for 30 minutes after baking. Cut into squares and refrigerate for a couple of hours or until cool.
Serve cool

there are a lot of reasons i love spring. here are just a few.

i get to change out my purse! i got this purse for a steal! (thanks donna ;)

i love blossoms!! i don't love the sneezing...but, they are worth it!

we eat more sandwiches and salads! it's just to hot for soup!!!

i love conference! i look forward to the guidance that is given every 6 months.

all my chickens were born in spring! 1 in april, and 3 in may!!!
