easy french bread

baking bread can be tricky, and time consuming.
it also takes A LOT of practice, and patience.
(i'm short on patience and time!)
so,when i got this recipe for french bread
 from my talented friend
over at Life's Little Treasures.
i was ready to put it to the test.
boy did it deliver!
this recipe NEVER fails me.
 it's always a crowd pleaser,
and it looks so good!

p.s. i like to make this for our sunday dinner.
my family is always very impressed. ;)

easy french bread

2 1/2 c. warm water
2 tbls. sugar
1 tbls. salt
2 tbls. oil
2 tbls. yeast
6 c. flour

add water, sugar, salt, oil, and yeast. mix.
add flour, 1 cup at a time.
knead in your mixer for 5 min.
let rise for an hour (i never let it rise)
lightly dust counter.
roll into loaves.
sprinkle corn meal on jelly roll pan.
place loaves on pan.
let rise 15 min.
bake on 400.
15-20 min.
rub butter on top!
(you can also brush egg white on top before you bake it...it makes it shiny)

enjoy!

  3. So I have a couple questions. When you say mix after the first step, do you mix it with a spoon, or whisk? or a hook? Also, when do you put the egg whites on? After they rise or before, same question for cutting the top of the bread?
