heard of ebelskivers?

i don't know what it is about these little, round, danish pancakes but i'm obsessed!  while shopping at william sonoma i found an ebelskiver pan and a really fun recipe book. the recipe book has sweet and savory ebelskiver recipes.  i'm told that the pan can be purchased for less elsewhere but i don't know where, maybe you do?   moddy and i were introduced to the darling round things at one of our favorite breakfast restaraunts.

mashed amazing potatoes

i was watching the Nate Burkus show last week and he had Chef Alex Guarnaschelli on his show. she owns some million star restaurant called The Darby! i of course googled The Darby, and found out it was in New York! not cool. so, sense i won't be going to new york anytime soon...i thought i would try out one of her recipes. here it is! im going to make this tomorrow night, along with her chicken recipe!

Mashed Potatoes “Chantilly"
Serves: 8
Equipment
13 by 9 by 2" baking dish
Ingredients
41/2-5 pounds Idaho Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1" chunks (Note: please make sure the potato chunks are all relatively the same size to assure even cooking time)
Kosher salt to taste
¾ cup whole milk
1 stick butter, cut into slices, plus 1 additional tablespoon butter for greasing the baking dish
1 tablespoon unseasoned breadcrumbs
1 cup heavy cream
¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375F.
2. In a large pot, add the potatoes and cover amply with cold water. Bring the water up to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Add a generous pinch of salt to the water and allow the potatoes to cook until tender when pierced with the tip of a knife, 15-20 minutes. Pour the water and potatoes into a colander placed in the sink to drain off all of the water. Return the same pot to the heat and add the milk. Bring the milk to a simmer and gingerly add the potatoes back into the pot. Season with salt to taste and whisk in the stick of butter. Whisk until all of the ingredients meld together. Taste for seasoning. Remove from the heat.
3. Use the remaining tablespoon butter to “grease” the sides and bottom of the baking dish. Add in the breadcrumbs and roll them around inside the dish so it creates a butter/breadcrumb topping.
4. Using a whisk (or an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment), whip the heavy cream until fairly firm. Season with salt. With a rubber spatula, gently fold the whipped cream and about ½ cup of the Parmesan cheese into the mashed potatoes. Taste for seasoning. Transfer the potatoes to a baking dish and top with remaining Parmesan. Place in the center of the oven and bake, undisturbed, for 15-20 minutes. The top should be light brown from the cheese and the potatoes hot. Serve immediately.

(i got the recipe from the Nate Burkus website. check it out!)

chalk board picture

i thought this was a great idea! i saw this on the Nate Burkus show. it is super easy! now, im off to find a cool picture frame!
Liven up your kitchen or family room with a message center that suits your style.
Let’s face it, we all need reminders from time to time, which is why chalkboards are so useful in common areas of the home. They’re the perfect place to jot down chores, grocery lists, appointments and phone messages for everyone to see. And they make great billboards for sharing notes with your family. Here’s how to create a custom chalkboard that fits your décor.

1. Choose a picture frame of a size and style that complements your interior design. Remove the glass pane from the frame.
2. Firmly apply strips of 2-inch masking tape to the back (inside) of the glass pane to strengthen the outer surface.
3. Spray the front (outside) of the glass pane with a coat of chalkboard spray paint. Let dry, then repeat until uniformly coated.
4. Once dry, place the painted glass back in the frame and attach the frame backing.
5. Hang the frame securely to the wall. Now grab a piece of chalk and write a message to yourself: job well done!

Note: You can also repurpose a rustic cabinet door or small desk drawer as a chalkboard. Just apply chalkboard paint to the exterior (cabinet door) or interior (desk drawer) surface and securely fasten to the wall for a highly functional, one-of-a-kind decorative hanging.

BTW: i got the DIY self info off of The Nate Burkus Show. check it out! great ideas!

reclaimed wood

i love my kitchen table. it's made from reclaimed barn wood. i have to wax it occasionaly and it has some dings and marks but i don't mind. every imperfection reminds me of family and projects. i purchased the table at the coolest antiques warehouse in jackson, ca. browsing the warehouse is definately worth a

trip and would be a great girls' get-away.

the SWIFFER SWEEPER VAC

i love my SWIFFER SWEEPER VAC.  i also have very DARK wood floors and this contraption is great for sucking up crumbs and hair before you SHARK.  i use it in the bathroom before i sanitze and in the kitchen too.  i have girls with lots of hair and i will say, it sucks the hair up.  the battery is rechargeable and really should be charged after a couple uses.  my SWIFFER hangs on a nail, just outside the door going into the garage, close to an outlet so it's always ready to go.

the SHARK!!

doesn't it look fun!?

i have DARK hard wood floors...this can be a pain in the rear with 4 kids. i used to get my mop out, grab the Boni...spray the floor, mop, mop, mop, rinse out the mop..repeat process. well, after talking to some friends, and seeing some pretty "great" infomercials. i was convinced this would change my life, and it HAS!! my sister and i are now totally hooked. it is so simple to use, and there are no harsh chemicals. just recently i got the hand shark steamer..and, i must say i do love!
